Overview

When I joined CosmicSwap, it was obvious that the platform, a direct fork of PancakeSwap, lacked its own personality and suffered from a clunky user experience. The interface was cluttered, uninspired, and just didn’t feel right. I proposed a full rebrand that would not only boost the visual appeal but also streamline functionality on both mobile and desktop.

REBRANDING THE IDENTITY

Fresh Restart for a New Proposition

Enter the Void 🌌

Breaking the Habits

The first step was rethinking CosmicSwap’s brand identity. The original design mimicked PancakeSwap so closely that it was hard for users to tell the difference. The color palette was dull and the logo felt lifeless, no trust, no excitement.

The previous brand looked too much like PancakeSwap, offering nothing to set it apart.

The visuals were uninspired, failing to engage users or build trust.

A New Transition

I created a modern, eye-catching brand identity inspired by the cosmos. I chose a deep space color palette with rich dark purples and blues, accented by vibrant neon tones to evoke energy and depth. The new logo, featuring a stylized, glowing comet, symbolizes speed and the limitless possibilities of the crypto space. This rebrand wasn’t just a facelift; it was about building a brand that users could trust and get excited about.

DASHBOARD REDESIGN

Leaving the Old Fork Behind

Break the Standards

Overview

The original dashboard was a carbon copy of PancakeSwap’s interface, causing confusion and a poor user experience. Key features like staking and the lottery were buried under unintuitive menus, making navigation a real headache.

The redesigned dashboard features intuitive navigation, making the most important functions easily accessible.

A cleaner layout means less clutter and faster, more efficient task completion.

Previous Dashboard

The old CosmicSwap dashboard was riddled with usability issues. Cluttered layouts, hidden features like staking and the lottery, and a lack of clear navigation led to frustration and low engagement. The uninspired design, heavily borrowed from PancakeSwap, failed to give the platform its own identity.

User Research

I kicked things off with a thorough UX audit to pinpoint the major pain points. The main culprit was the complexity of accessing core features. My goal was to streamline the journey by designing a new dashboard layout with clear, concise navigation and easy-to-read icons and labels.

Ergonomics

By introducing a modular design, users could now customize their dashboard experience. Whether they were focused on staking, the lottery, or using the bridge to transfer tokens from BNB to Polygon, everything was front and center. The result was a much cleaner, user-friendly interface that cut down on task time significantly.

Usability Issues on Mobile

The mobile version of the old dashboard was a real pain. The interface wasn’t optimized for small screens, buttons were tiny, and key features like staking and the lottery were buried behind clunky dropdowns that took too many taps to access.

Lack of Mobile Optimization

Without proper mobile adaptation, the platform frustrated users who needed quick, on-the-go transactions, limiting its appeal to a broader audience.

BNB POLYGON BRIDGE

Implementing the Cross-Chain Bridge

Synchronizing Cross-Chain Tokens

Overview

The cross-chain bridge was a game changer for CosmicSwap. It enabled users to transfer tokens seamlessly between Binance Smart Chain (BNB) and Polygon networks. Designing this feature was challenging, as it had to be both intuitive and secure.

The design focused on simplicity, making the token transfer process easy even for newbies.

Instant transaction updates helped boost transparency and user confidence.

Usability Issues on Mobile

For the bridge, one major improvement was adding a step-by-step guide directly into the interface. This guide walked users through each stage of the token transfer, reducing errors, especially for those new to cross-chain transactions. We also added robust error-handling to immediately flag issues like network delays or incorrect wallet addresses, keeping everything running smoothly.

Result

The rebrand and redesign of CosmicSwap received overwhelmingly positive feedback. User engagement shot up by 35%, and staking activity increased by 50% in the first month after the redesign. The fresh brand identity not only set CosmicSwap apart from its competitors but also attracted a wider, more engaged user base. The new cross-chain bridge further cemented its position as a forward-thinking platform.
